Despite some controversy about the preferred word to describe a person who really likes sporting rifles (aficionado, enthusiast, fan and other politically correct suggestions have
been made), the majority of readers of Rifle magazine prefer the term rifle loony, used in many of my
articles—and now, those of many other writers and rifle lovers everywhere.
It has taken a while to get this right. The final design came to Eileen in a flash of inspiration—a circle with the words “Grade A”
and “Certified” at the top and bottom of RIFLE LOONY.
There has been some discussion of the spelling of loony. Some spell it looney, others loonie. The first is listed as a correct alternative to loony in both the
Oxford and Webster’s dictionaries, but “loonie” does not appear. We chose loony because of the honored tradition of brevity in writing.
The hats are hi-quality, 100% cotton, with velcro closure, and available in Realtree hardwoods, orange, blue, and pink (with purple writing). All are $20
per hat, which includes 1st class shipping in a padded envelope; a priority box is also available for $3, and can fit up to 6 hats. Order a complete set
for your family, and then order two for friends at the same $3 shipping rate. Rifle Loonys Rule!
